NC's Eugenics program continues to be at the forefront of the state conversation as lawmakers consider compensation legislation. Professor Karin Zipf takes a detailed look at the State Home & Industrial School in Eagle Springs, commonly known as Samarcand Manor, the 1931 arson case, & the large role that eugenics-based classification policies played in the “reformation” of poor white girls.
